Get Involved

Prejudice Reduction WorkshopHelp build an inclusive and welcoming south central Minnesoa community! This is a big mission and it takes many to make it happen.

Ways you can help:

Become a Promoting Respect Workshop Facilitator - Teach Mutual Respect and Civility

Present Promoting Respect Workshop curriculum in grades K-12 in the Mankato area. The 1/2 to 1 hour workshops combine engaging discussion with hands-on activities. Facilitators receive all necessary training and lessons are prepared ahead of time. Recruitment occurs in the spring of each year, followed by interviews in the summer and training in early fall. PRW classroom sessions typically run from mid October through May and facilitators can sign up for days and times that are convenient for them. It's easy, it's fun and you'll meet great people!  Details about Becoming a Facilitator - How to Apply and What's involved.
Promoting Respect Workshops are partially funded by the schools and the rest comes from the generous donations of individuals and organizations in our community. Small or large, your donation helps fulfill our mission of teaching mutual respect and plants seeds that strengthen our community and regional area.

Purchase Diversity Training for Your Organization

New cultures, more women in the workforce and the aging of their current workforce are causing stresses for many southern MN organizations. Diversity training is not just about racial differences, our training workshops offer a unique opportunity for organizations to acquire low cost training that helps with all of these kinds of differences in our staff and clients. We offer full and partial day training and will tailor the offerings to your organizational needs. Contact us for more information about our training options and costs.

Volunteer - the driving force behind the Diversity Council

Volunteers assist with preparing materials for prejudice reduction workshops and diversity training sessions, they assist staff with planning and executing trainings and other events, with researching and with supporting diversity council communications. Volunteering with the Diversity Council is a terrific opportunity for those wanting hands-on experience related to government service, diversity workshops, office support and marketing/public relations. We do offer internships for college students. Please contact us for more information.

Join the Diversity Council Board

Be part of an organization making a short and long term positive impact on our community and region. You'll meet people from many different parts of the community and will have the opportunity to select the ways you wish to help. The Board of the Diversity Council provides strategic direction and assistance to the staff that manages day to day operations of the council. The board helps with marketing, fundraising and evaluation. Meetings are held on the last Monday of each month and diverse members of the community are encouraged to participate. Board training is provided and there are opportunities to assist with board working groups as a hands-on way to learn before joining as well.
