Perspectives Business Diversity Training

Perspectives Business Diversity Training Series

Perspectives is a keystone diversity, equity, and inclusion series offered by the Greater Mankato Diversity Council targeting adults and organizations. The four workshops are meant to be a series but the first three may be presented as single unit. "Inclusive Initiative" is offered only after the first three topics are completed.

Workshops in this series are typically 1-2 hours each. Workshops may also be tailored to meet your specific needs. Don't hesitate to contact us to discuss.
Perspectives workshops include
  1. Implicit Bias
  2. Diversity 101
  3. Cultural Competency
  4. Inclusion Initiatives
(limited to those who attended the first three sessions)

If you haven’t hired a team of people who are of color, female, and/or LGBT to actively turn over every stone, to scope out every nook and cranny, to pop out of every bush, to find every qualified underrepresented founder in this country, you’re going to miss out on a lot of money when the rest of the investment world gets it.

The Special Topics Series may be provided as a series or individually.  They are ideally held following the Perspectives Series. Racist ideas love believers, not thinkers."

Human Resources:
Hiring and Diversity

Created especially for human resources (HR) staff, this workshop educates HR staff in implicit bias, xenophobia, and cultural un-awareness, which impact the hiring, retention, and advancement of a diverse body of staff. We also discuss why diversity in the workplace is critical and discuss tools and support systems that create and promote inclusive workplaces.

Biology of Race

This workshop provides a general understanding of race. Racial problems arise from the belief that “WE are different from THEM”. Of course, everyone is different in their background or culture. But racism has a root belief that we are inherently or innately different. This talk will focus on the fact that genetically and biologically speaking we are basically all the same. Race does not exit among human beings. We are one species.

Science of Diversity

This workshop provides an explanation of bias from the brain function. Scientific view of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, and culture are also discussed.

Many “Diversity, Inclusion and Equity” issues are dealt as social science issues. But there in another way of viewing this from natural science point of view. Whether it is race, disability, sexual orientation/identity, even culture...there is a different way to describe them using science and mathematics and it will give us a fresh view to the diversity issues.

This talk will address diversity issues based on facts and science.

Cultural Unawareness

Comparison of Japanese and U.S. cultures, western and east Asian cultures, and how culture influences your behavior and thought processes.

Japan vs. U.S.

Detail introduction to Japanese culture in comparison with the US culture and insight into cultural competence

Here we were talking about economic development, about investing billions of dollars in various programs, and I could see it wasn’t billions of dollars people needed right away.”
