We must all learn to live together as brothers ... or we will all perish together as fools, which is the challenge of the hour."

Annual MLK Commemoration

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration and Pathfinder Awards event was initially hosted near Dr. King's birthdate in February.

In 2023, the Greater Mankato Diversity Council adjusted the event to commemorate Dr. King's visit and three public addresses in Mankato, MN, on November 12, 1961.

The event typically includes the presentation of the Pathfinder Awards, a special guest, entertainment, and dinner.

Pathfinder Awards

The Pathfinder Awards were created in 1986 to recognize individuals or organizations that, in the spirit of Dr. King, are initiators or action-takers in the struggle for equal treatment, human rights, and non-violence.

We continue to celebrate youth, individuals, and organizations through the Pathfinder (the original), Youth Pathfinder (established in 2002), and Business Pathfinder Awards (established in 2003).
